Global collaboration is necessary to show students that they are part of something bigger than them. That the world needs to be protected and that we need to care for all people. You can show them pictures of kids in other countries but why not have them speak to each other? Then the caring can begin.

I'll have to think about this for a little while, but of the choices suggested so far, I like Sideways Stories from Wayside School. It's a fun, engaging read aloud that features both girl and boy characters. I haven't read Gollywhopper Games, so I'll be heading to the library tomorrow to check that one out.
I'm so excited to get this going!
I saw on the Twitpoll that someone has suggested The Little Prince. That is one of my favorite books and I would love to do that one! It is a little deep, but so beautifully written! I want to choose a book that will get kids really thinking.
I'm game. From Mombasa, so dont know about the timings. My email naini@akam.ac.ke would love to skype and blog too.
