The One and Only Ivan is an amazing book. I read this to my class last year and skyped with Katherine Applegate. My students loved this book! Great, great choice!

Charlotte's Web is one of my favourite books, I have shared this book with my girls as they were growing up and I am looking forward to sharing it with the children at shool and as part of the Global Read Aloud.
I just read The One and Only Ivan, and wanted to share it with my students. I will sign up right now!
There's a great biography of E.B White that centers around his writing of Charlotte's Web, called appropriately The Story of Charlotte's Web. The book by Michael Sims has been out about a year now. There is an NPR piece about the book at

My 4th-grade teacher read Charlotte's Web to our class in 1962 when the book was relatively new. It's held a special place for me ever since.
Also, I'm looking forward to reading The One and Only Ivan to my class later on.
I can't wait to spread the word to my teammates. LOVE The One and Only Ivan. Last year was such a wonderful experience with Flat Stanley - Looking forward to October.
